One of the most common symptoms of stress in the body is 'forgetting' to breathe, or holding your breath. It's as if we want to 'play dead', or just not be there until the danger passes. In this video (it's from the programme), I show you some things to do to get you both breathing again more easily, and doing something to calm the brain in unconscious mode, so it doesn't make you hold your breath in the first place. The video lasts 5:27.
I'M ANNE.
I'm a trauma therapist, and a medical herbalist (that's the SEP® and MNIMH letters after my name), and over the last fifteen years I've helped many hundreds of my trauma clients manage and change their bodies' responses to stress and overwhelm, so they can get on with their day with calm and confidence.
I've gathered all the strategies, techniques, hacks, hints and tips, to help our bodies when overwhelm hits, and put them into this programme, where you can access them all in one place. They are tried and tested over many years, with many, many clients and patients, and I use them myself.
I'm also an ex-teacher, a mum to three and a grandmother to three, and I love cats, and doing hand embroidery. I live in the beautiful city of Edinburgh with my wife Joolz.
What gives me a real buzz is seeing people connect with who they are, deep down inside, make decisions that are absolutely right for them, and living lives that are full of happiness and fulfilment.
Being able to manage, diminish, and change our body's unhelpful responses to stress is a crucial first step towards living a life you love, and I know that you can do it too!
